Collecting Previous Training for CDA Renewal
When gathering your previous training, keep in mind that the Council allows CDA Renewal candidates to use professional education obtained at any time after the issue date of the current CDA Credential.
To meet the training requirement, candidates must complete a minimum of:
-
4.5 CEUs, or
-
A three (3) credit hour college course from an accredited college or university, or
-
45 clock hours of training in Early Childhood Education and/or Child Development
Converting Training Hours to Clock Hours
The Council provides the following guidance for converting training into clock hours:
-
1 CEU = 10 clock hours
-
1 Semester Credit = 15 clock hours
-
1 Quarter Credit = 10 clock hours
-
1 DHS Credit = 1 clock hour
-
1 Unit = 1 clock hour
Note: Coursework or training cannot be the same as what was used for the initial credential or any previous renewals. It must be specific and relevant to your CDA Credential type and based on the eight CDA Subject Areas.
